I have to start this invocation out with something a little funny. A couple weeks ago, my son informed me that he would like a drum set for Christmas. As we traveled to Guitar Center to price them, we were listening to the Dave Matthews Band. At one point, he turned to me and asked, “Dad, have you always listened the Dave Matthews Band? Because you should listen to their stuff! Their drummer is a beast!”
Yes, my 14 year son has just discovered Dave Matthews and I am now officially old!
Speaking of DMB, though, they once sang:
I can’t believe that we would lie in our graves
Wondering if we had spent our living days well
I can’t believe that we would lie in our graves
Dreaming of things that we might have been
Tonight is about dreams. Some of our thoughts will turn to those who have come before us to live their dreams – and we’ll smile.
Tonight we will hear about the dreams of Darlene Dresch, as she takes the oath of office and becomes our 86th President.
Tonight we also celebrate the 3rd Quarter of President Fay’s dream, of being a growth organization for a second consecutive year. And somewhere in this room and throughout our state, Jaycees from all around will dreams of dreams of their own and become inspired to follow them all the way to the Sky and back.
