A couple of men from the city of Liverpool, England once wrote:
There are places I will remember, all my life, though some have changed
Some forever but not better; some have gone and some remain.
All these places have their moment
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I’ve loved them all.
Tonight, in the next couple of hours, some people in this room will add to their list of places that they will forever remember – the Grand Traverse Resort. They will add this because, in the next couple of hours, they will have joined the ranks for the select few who can call themselves Outstanding Local Vice Presidents. Some in this room will join the list of those who can call themselves Luthy Presidents. Someone in this room will join the ranks of the most prestigious few who can call themselves Otto Presidents.
But for me, I will remember this place as the spot that my friend Fay Poissant, one last time, reminded us what it means to be one of the special few who declare triumphantly that we are Michigan Jaycees. It means, quite simply, that we will forever be able to say that we can accomplish anything we set our minds to because – as Fay will remind us The Sky’s the Limit.
