A couple of weeks ago, my good friend Angela (check her blog at: http://fallingstar924.blogspot.com/), said that she was going to start a “Couch to 5K” training program.  As I investigated what this craziness is, I discovered that it did indeed involve running.

Without fully thinking it through, I said to her, “Maybe I should do that with you.”  Thinking that I was going to be a supportive friend, and partially thinking she’d say something like “Nah, you don’t have to do that.”

Instead, she called my bluff, which I think is weird because she and I haven’t played poker before and she shouldn’t know what my tells are.

At any rate, this last week, I’ve run three times going about 2 miles each time.  I’m told I’ve burned almost 1000 calories doing so (according to the running apps that I’ve discovered in the Android market).  I wish I could say that I ran the entire distance … but I mostly walked it.

Makes you wonder how Forest Gump did it.

Hopefully in the next week, I’ll be able to run more than walk in my training.  Might help to get some new shoes first. 😉
