A few other folks around the internet have been publishing their reviews of the past year and their resolutions for 2014.  I just can’t do that right now because I’m not down to party tonight.  My mind has been reviewing the year for the past couple of weeks and all I can do is sigh.

Nevertheless, a new year means a new start.  A new year brings hope that things will be better than we currently find them.  A new year brings warmth and power and sometimes a kick in the ass.  I’m thinking that’s what I’ve got in store for me this next year.

So I’ll say goodbye to 2013.  I’ll say goodbye to a number of friendships, personal and professional, that have run their course. I thank you for the memories and the lessons and for being a part of my life.

And until we meet again, because I truly believe that we will meet again either on this planet or in the communion of saints, I wish you all a very Blessed and Happy New Year!  For those of you who are like me, I’ll wish you get that kick in the ass to get moving again too … hopefully it won’t leave a big mark! 😉

AULD LANG SYNE:

Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind ?
Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and old lang syne ?

CHORUS:
For auld lang syne, my dear,
for auld lang syne,
we’ll take a cup of kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

And surely you’ll buy your pint cup!
and surely I’ll buy mine !
And we’ll take a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

We two have run about the slopes,
and picked the daisies fine ;
But we’ve wandered many a weary foot,
since auld lang syne.

We two have paddled in the stream,
from morning sun till dine;
But seas between us broad have roared
since auld lang syne.

And there’s a hand my trusty friend !
And give me a hand o’ thine !
And we’ll take a right good-will draught,
for auld lang syne.
