About Dave

Just a guy who is the 87th Past President of the Michigan Junior Chamber (Jaycees), Past Chairman of the Republican Party of Kalamazoo County, and is a Kalamazoo County Road Commissioner. Working in the Michigan political arena for over 10 years, I love pop culture, music, trivia games, sci-fi, and I’m married with 2 children, 1 grand-daughter, & 2 cats 1 cat (Buster went across the Rainbow Bridge in February of 2015 … but Indigo is still here).

But above all that, I truly believe in this story from The West Wing:

“This guy’s walking down a street, when he falls in a hole. The walls are so steep, he can’t get out. A doctor passes by, and the guy shouts up “Hey you! Can you help me out?” The doctor writes him a prescription, throws it down the hole and moves on.

Then a priest comes along and the guy shouts up “Father, I’m down in this hole, can you help me out?” The priest writes out a prayer, throws it down in the hole and moves on.

Then a friend walks by. “Hey Joe, it’s me, can you help me out?” And the friend jumps in the hole! Our guy says “Are you stupid? Now we’re both down here!” and the friend says, “Yeah, but I’ve been down here before, and I know the way out.”

So I guess this blog is partly my way of showing others the way out and partly asking others to show me the way out too.
