An old African proverb suggests, “Before eating, open thy mouth.“
When we sit down at the table, we must prepare ourselves to receive nourishment. We must life our forks, open our mouths, and follow through. Hunger, or appetite, brings us to the table in the first place.
The same goes with our work in the Jaycees. There are many possibilities for enrichment as long as we are receptive to them. We our foolish not to accept help when it is offered. We must keep our eyes open for opportunities; they are there, and if we pass them by, then the Michigan Jaycees will miss our chance for great programming and true and steady growth.
So as we prepare to eat our lunch today, let’s remember to keep preparing ourselves for great things this year.
